2008 Strategy

Central Asia has 3 key themes to its strategy for the year

  1. Extension and Infill drilling at our 4 sites – Altyntas, Kepken, Kengir, Uenke Bulak. We have 5 rigs assigned currently, 3 of which at Altyntas which has given some great results of late. We intend to take Altyntas, Kepken and Kengir to commercial license later in the year
  2. Progressing with feasibility investigations into production at Uenke Bulak with the intention of development and production in 2009
  3. Growth through acquisition

For more information please refer to ASX announcement dated 7/4/2008.

Resource Announcements

Central Asia were very excited to announce JORC compliant Resource statements over the last few weeks.

  1. Central Asia announces maiden resource of 287koz – Altyntas Gold Prospect
  2. Central Asia announces maiden resource of 294koz – Kepken Gold Project
  3. Kengir Resource substantially increased
  4. Central Asia doubles Uenke Bulak Inferred Resource – Production plans on track

These are the first Resource statements for Central Asia since listing in July 2007. Our drilling and validation of old data has proved very successful with our total Resource increasing to 763koz Au and 1.9Moz Ag.

For more information please refer to ‘Announcements’ or ‘Projects’ on our website

Test Work

We have commenced metallurgical testwork on the 4 prospects mentioned above. Altyntas, Kepken and Kengir are all in close proximity to each other so we are particular interested in seeing if any process synergies exist between these 3 prospects.

Testwork on Uenke Bulak is progressing, at his stage we are exploring the suitability of Gekko’s GFIl mobile processing solution. This solution is particularly attractive as it creates the opportunity to subsequently relocate the plant to other small deposits and therefore avoid much of the capital start up costs which is the biggest challenge for realising the potential of small deposits.
